RSS Feeds Wednesday, January 04, 2012
Ribald, a 7-year-old gelding by Unusual Heat racing for BAM Racing LLC, broke Sunland Park's 6-furlong track record in a $12,000 starter allowance sprint on Tuesday.

Prepped by Justin Evans, Ribald covered his three-quarter mile trip in 1:07.60 under jockey Miguel Hernandez, breaking the previous mark of 1:08.01 set by Rapper SS in an allowance-optional claiming ($40,000) race on January 18, 2009. The gelding's margin of victory was 4 ¾ lengths from runner-up Western Pine.

The $7,200 winner's share of the purse increased Ribald's earnings to $88,823 from 21 races. His five career wins include claiming victories at Hollywood Park and Santa Anita last year.
