Attilas Storm Colts Tops NM Bred Thoroughbred Yearling Sale
RSS Feeds Sunday, August 23, 2015

Expect A Storm, a chestnut colt by Attila’s Storm out of the mutliple stakes placed Premeditation mare Prairie Moonlight, sold for $65,000 to top the New Mexico-Bred Thoroughbred Yearling Sale at Ruidoso Downs on Saturday.

Part of the A & A Ranch consignment, Expect A Storm (Hip No. 261) was purchased by R.D. Hubbard and Joe Dee Brooks. The colt’s dam, now 9, ran second in the 2008 Rio Grande Senorita Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs and third in that season’s New Mexico Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Stakes (R) at Zia Park.

Prairie Moonlight is a full sister to three-time New Mexico-bred stakes winner Run Like Fire.

Brooks joined with Dustin Brooks and Scott Bryant to purchase Rock N Roll Me (Hip No. 250), a daughter of Roll Hennessy Roll, from the Cindy Dick consignment for $57,000. The filly is the first foal produced by Shamrock Girl, a 7-year-old daughter of King Bull who won the 2010 Dessie & Fern Sawyer Futurity (R) at The Downs at Albuquerque and 2011 La Senora Stakes (R) at Sunland Park.

Overall, the New Mexico-Bred Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred Sale gross receipts topped the $3-mark for the first time in its history.
