Brookstone Bay Colt Posts Fastest New Mexican Spring Futurity Trial Time

PK Bay, a chestnut colt by Brookstone Bay racing for David Barrett and Sue H. May, is the fastest qualifier to the April 10, $120,000-added New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG1) at Sunland Park.

Making his career debut in the fifth of eight trials, PK Bay defeated third-fastest qualifier Sparklin Royal by one length while covering 300 yards in :14.878 and earning a 98 speed index. Jacky Martin rode the colt for trainer Fred Danley.

Second-fastest qualifier Miner Maniac won the seventh heat by three-quarters of a length as the 2-1 favorite. Ridden by Esgar Ramirez for owner Esau Hermosillo and trainer Salvador Soto, the bay Sixes Royal colt stopped the timer in 15.017 while making his first lifetime start.
