Call Me A Blazn Chic is Fastest Shue Fly Qualifier

Call Me A Blazn Chic, a daughter of Chicks A Blazin racing for J & M Racing and Farm, won the sixth of seven Shue Fly Stakes (RG1) trials at Sunland Park on Friday, and the filly is the fastest qualifier to the $296,332 final on January 7.

Saddled by Roberto Sanchez and ridden by Vicente Grajeda, Call Me A Blazn Chic covered 400 yards in :19.413, earning an 85 speed index and defeating fourth-fastest qualifier Wind Knocker by 1 ¾ lengths. The filly was making her first start since October 30, when she scored a neck victory as the 2-1 favorite in the 400-yard, $330,643 New Mexico Cup Futurity (RG1) at Zia Park.

All told, Call Me A Blazn Chic has won three of eight races, including the July 31, $384,031 Zia Futurity (RG1) at Ruidoso Downs, and she has earned $359,839.

Second-fastest qualifier My Big Chief won the fourth trial by a neck from third-fastest qualifier Sammy James. The sorrel gelding by Get Down Perry is owned and trained by Robert A. Rivera.
