The Downs at Albuquerque has released its first condition book and complete stakes schedule for its 59-day meet, which runs August 14-November 14.

Located at Expo New Mexico in central Albuquerque, The Downs at Albuquerque will race four days a week on a Friday-Monday schedule. The lone exception will be during the New Mexico State Fair, when racing will be conducted for 17 consecutive days from September 10-26.

A total of 34 stakes worth more than $1,130,000 in purses are scheduled, 21 for Thoroughbreds and 13 for Quarter Horses. Lineage Day, August 22, will feature 11 New Mexico-bred stakes – six for Thoroughbreds and five for Quarter Horses – worth $380,000 in purses. Two new $10,000-added claiming stakes have been added to the Lineage Day schedule, a 350-yard race for Quarter Horses and a 5 ½-furlong race for Thoroughbreds.

Seven of the Quarter Horse stakes have been officially graded by AQHA, including three 400-yard, $40,000-guaranteed races on Lineage Day – the Lineage Championship (RG3) for older horses, the Pelican Stakes (RG3) for 3-year-old fillies, and the Hard Twist Stakes (RG3) for 3-year-olds.
