A full field of 10 sprinters has been entered in Saturday’s 400-yard, $85,000 Jess burner Memorial Handicap (RG1) for New Mexico-bred Quarter Horses at Sunland Park.

Melvin Neugebauer’s Here Kittykittykitty, the 3-1 morning-line favorite, is coming off of a half-length victory in the 440-yard, $170,000 Namehimastreaker New Mexico Cup Championship (RG1) at Zia Park on October 27. Trained by Wes Giles, the 6-year-old Genuine Strawfly gelding won both of his starts during the Zia Park meet, and he scored a neck win in the 2011 Jess Burner Memorial Handicap.

Larry Gamez will ride Here Kittykittykitty from post 3 on Saturday.

Other Jess Burner contenders include Jess Rueben James, a homebred 3-year-old gelded son of Jesse James Jr who has earned $192,054 from 16 outs for his owner, Currie J. Maben of Clovis, New Mexico. During the Zia Park meet, Jess Rueben James sprinted to a 1 1/4-length win at odds of 27-1 in the 440-yard, $199,000 New Mexico Cup Derby (RG2).

PJ Chick In Black, last year’s AQHA champion 2-year-old filly, returns to New Mexico after her fifth-place finish in the November 1, $25,000 Town Policy Stakes at Los Alamitos. Owned by Dennis C. Bowen, Susan Taylor, and Jack Smith Farms, PJ Chick In Black has banked $653,981 from 13 races, and her nine wins include the March 30, $203,000 West Texas Derby (G3) at Sunland Park.
