Field Set for Mountain Top Thoroughbred Futurity

The field has been set for the June 24, $141,382 Mountain Top Thoroughbred Futurity (R) for state-bred 2-year-olds at Ruidoso Downs.

Storm The Beach and Blazing Navarone both won their 5-furlong trials on Friday. Ridden by Enrique Gomez, Storm The Beach won the first trial by a nose in :58.96. Fred Danley prepped the bay son of Attila’s Storm for owner J & SM Inc. of Fort Stockton, Texas.

Storm The Beach was bred by Tom and Leslie Goncharoff of Tularosa, New Mexico. The gelding has won two of three starts and has earned $25,404, and his resume includes a third-place finish in the April 16, 4 1/2-furlong Copper Top Futurity (R) at Sunland Park.

Blazing Navarone races for Solitaire Stable and George E. Coleman from the barn of trainer Henry Dominguez. Ridden by Frank Reyes, the bay colt by Song Of Navarone won the second trial by 1 1/2 lengths in :58.94.

Blazing Navarone was bred by Lucky Six Inc. The colt has won both of his outs and has banked $15,480.
