Field Set for Mountain Top Thoroughbred Futurity
RSS Feeds Sunday, June 13, 2010

Capitol Guy made his career debut with a three-quarter length victory in the first of three Mountain Top Thoroughbred Futurity (R) trials at Ruidoso Downs on Thursday.

Saddled by Carlos Sedillo and ridden by Ken Tohill for owner James R. McClintic, Capitol Guy covered 5 furlongs in :58.11, the fastest clocking in the trials. The chestnut colt by Dome returned a $4.80 win mutuel as the 7-5 favorite in the field of seven.

Capitol Guy was bred by Mike Abraham, and the colt is one of 60 winners from 110 starters sired by Dome, a 12-year-old son of Storm Cat whose six crops have earned more than $3.3 million. He stands for a $2,000 fee at W.L. Mooring’s Double L Farm at Bosque, New Mexico.

Capitol Guy’s dam, Elated Again, is a winning daughter of the Mr. Prospector stallion Geiger Counter. The 19-year-old Ontario-bred mare has produced four winners from as many starters, and she is a half sister to Elated Guy, a gelding by Brave Shot (GB) who ran first, second, or third in 20 stakes in Canada from 1991-98.
