RSS Feeds Saturday, September 9, 2017

The field has been set for the September 23, $100,000-added New Mexico State Fair Futurity (RG3) at Albuquerque Downs, and Hubaldo Solis’ Osbaldo Blue Diamond set the fastest qualifying time in trials held on Friday.

A homebred gray daughter of Osbaldo, Osbaldo Blue Diamond won the first of six trials by 1 1/4 lengths in :19.765. Luis Apodaca rode the filly for trainer Javier Roman Jr.

Osbaldo Blue Diamond has won two of eight starts and has banked $43,334, and her resume includes a second-place finish, three-quarters of a length behind winner WDC Woody B Fast, in the May 14, $110,213 New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity (RG3), the richest race at the 2017 SunRay Park meet in Farmington.

The third heat produced four finalists, including second-fastest qualifier Riverside Flash. Trained by Wes Giles for owner Ivey Cattle Company, Riverside Flash defeated third-fastest qualifier Masons Moon by a half of a length in :19.818. Adrian Ramos rode the homebred daughter of champion First Moonflash, who was earning her second win in four outs.

Riverside Flash has banked $24,821, and she was a finalist in the July 30, 400-yard Zia Futurity (RG1) at Ruidoso Downs.
