RSS Feeds Sunday, July 17, 2011

Making his career debut, Who Left Who scored a wire-to-wire victory in the first of three trials on Sunday and is one of 10 qualifiers to the July 31 Rio Grande Senor Futurity (R) for New Mexico-bred 2-year-old colts and geldings at Ruidoso Downs.

Who Left Who is a homebred colt by The Way Home racing for Sam E. Stevens and Sammy Stevens of La Mesa, Texas. The colt defeated Mountain Top Futurity (R) fourth-place finisher I Do My Own Tricks by 2 ¾ lengths while covering 5 ½ furlongs in 1:07.26. Carlos Madeira rode Who Left Who for trainer Joel Marr.

Other prominent Senor Futurity qualifiers include Samuel F. Henderson's Band Of Glory, a bay colt by Minister Eric and $6,000 buy at last year's New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale at Ruidoso Downs. On June 26, Band Of Glory ran third, 4 ½ lengths behind winner My Homey, in the Mountain Top Futurity.

The top three finishers in the three trials have made the Rio Grande Senor Futurity. A shake for the 10th and final starting berth will take place between Grande Hadley, Good And You, and Doctor Spencer at the Ruidoso Downs racing office on Monday morning at 8 a.m.
