Field Set for Rio Grande Senorita Futurity
RSS Feeds Tuesday, July 20, 2010

A field of 10 New Mexico-bred 2-year-old fillies, including three homebreds racing for W.T. Stradley and Tom Williams, will meet in the $50,000-added Rio Grande Senorita Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs on August 1.

Stradley and Williams qualified Miss Focus, Squall Wilbud, and Squallena, all of whom are trained by Fred Danley. Squall Wilbud, a bay daughter of the Summer Squall stallion Squall, is the most accomplished of the three, as she won the fillies division of the 4 ½-furlong, $133,436 Copper Top Futurity (R) at Sunland Park on April 17.

Another bay filly by Squall, Squallena ran second, one length behind Tin Can Kitty, in the June 19, $75,000 C.O. “Ken” Kendrick Memorial Stakes (R) at SunRay Park.

Another qualifier, Three H Racing LLC’s Tin Can Kitty, has earned $78,037 from two wins in four starts. In addition to winning the Kendrick Memorial, the homebred daughter of Tin Can Sailor ran second to Squall Wilbud in the Copper Top Futurity.
