Hennessy Road is Morning-Line Favorite in Kendrick Memorial

Hennessy Road, a homebred daughter of Roll Hennessy Roll racing for W. Davis and Lisa Moore, is the 5-2 morning-line choice for Saturday's C.O. “Ken” Kendrick Memorial Stakes (R) for New Mexico-bred 2-year-old fillies at SunRay Park.

Trained by Todd Fincher, Hennessy Road has won two of her three starts, including the fillies division of the $100,958 Copper Top Futurity (R) at Sunland Park on April 14, and she has earned $59,079. The filly drew post 8 for the Kendrick Memorial.

Other contenders in the 4 1/2-furlong, $75,000 stakes include Star Of Wonder and La Luz. A bay filly by the Storm Cat stallion Storm Of Goshen racing for Quinn and Kim Jones from the barn of Guadalupe Munoz Jr., Star Of Wonder has banked $24,787 from three outs, and she ran second in the Copper Top Futurity.

La Luz made her career debut at SunRay Park on May 20, scoring a two-length victory in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight sprint for state-bred fillies. The chestnut daughter of the Old Trieste stallion Minister Eric races for Diana Bringhurst and is trained by Owen Bringhurst.

The Kendrick Memorial is the eighth race on SunRay Park's nine-race card on Saturday. Scheduled post time is 3:43 p.m. (MDT). Saturday's co-feature, a 400-yard, $25,100 allowance restricted to New Mexico-breds, has drawn a full field of 10, including Yaneth Cabrera's Untangled Vines, a 3-year-old Jesse James Jr gelding coming off of a second-place finish in the May 20, $75,000 New Mexico Breeders' Stakes (RG2).

Martin Bourdieu), 10-1; Lakehouse Fun (Enrique Gomez), 9-2; K.B.'s Princess (Alfredo Juarez Jr.), 20-1; Star Of Wonder (Alfonso Perez), 3-1; Hennessy Road (Casey Lambert), 5-2.
