It's My Party scored his first career stakes victory in the 6-furlong, $50,000 KHEY Y-96 Stakes for 3-year-olds at Sunland Park on Tuesday.
Ridden by J. Martin Bourdieu for owners Bobby and Vickie Hammer and trainer Chris Hartman, It's My Party covered his three-quarter mile trip in 1:09.40 while defeating Shigeo by a half of a length. The grey or roan colt was coming off of a fourth-place finish to Twice The Appeal in the March 27, $800,000 Sunland Derby (G3).
It's My Party was bred in Kentucky by Bloodstock Holdings LLC. His sire, Unbridled Energy, is a son of the Fappiano stallion Unbridled who earned $303,775 from eight starts, and whose four wins included the 2005 Marine Stakes (G3) at Woodbine Racecourse in Toronto and the '06 San Fernando Breeders' Cup Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita Park.
Now 9 and a full brother to the Grade 3-placed No Armistice, Unbridled Energy has sired 19 winners and the earners of more than $550,000 from 43 starters. He is owned by a syndicate and stands for a $6,000 fee at Crestwood Farm at Lexington, Kentucky.
It's My Party's dam, Dee Dee's Wildcat, is a winning 10-year-old daughter of the Storm Cat stallion Forest Wildcat. His second dam, the winning Son Of Briartic mare Fancy Stockings, ran third in the 1996 U.S. Bank Stakes for sophomore fillies at Emerald Downs near Seattle.
It's My Party was a $15,000 purchase at the 2009 Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Kentucky. He has won three of nine starts, and the $30,500 winner's share of the KHEY Y-96 Stakes purse pushed his bankroll to $144,130. The colt has completed at Sunland Park all season long, and his stakes resume includes a second-place finish to City Cool in the 6 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Riley Allison Futurity on December 28.
Trustee Tom and Get Back Man completed the order of finish.
Runner-up Shigeo is a California-bred gelding by Grey Memo who has won three of five starts and has earned $46,245 for his owner and breeder, Walter Oshiro. Shigeo's victories include a 5 1/4-length score at 6 ½ furlongs against entry-level allowance foes on March 8.
A Florida-bred With Distinction colt racing for Lathrop G. Hoffman, Trustee Tom was a $32,000 buy at last year's Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring 2-Year-Old Sale. Campaigned exclusively in New Mexico, the colt has banked $37,419 from one win in seven starts.
