Rogers Farms' Jenna's Miracle led at every call en route to a neck victory in Saturday's $50,000 New Mexico State Fair Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes (R) for 3-year-olds at The Downs at Albuquerque.
Trained by Gerald Richards and ridden by Miguel Hernandez, Jenna's Miracle set fractions of :24.24, :48.29 and 1:12.21 before he reached the wire in 1:44.31 for 1 1/16 miles. The colt's victory ran his winning streak to three.
A homebred gray or roan colt by Silver Season, Jenna's Miracle has earned $46,987 from three wins in five starts. He became the fifth stakes winner from 41 starters sired by Silver Season, a stakes-winning son of the Mr. Prospector stallion Silver Ghost.
Now 16, Silver Season has sired the earners of more than $1.6 million. He is owned by Brunacini Stables and stands for a $2,000 fee at Brunacini Farms at Belen, New Mexico.
Jenna's Miracle's dam, Good News Jenna, is a winning daughter of the Raise A Native stallion He's A Looker who ran second in Donchalisentoumdun's 1996 Riley Allison Futurity at Sunland Park. Now 17, Good News Jenna has produced four winners from as many starters, including Jenna's Promise, a half brother to Jenna's Miracle who won the 2003 Ruidoso Downs Sprint Series Handicap.
Of Jenna's Miracle's total career bankroll, $46,917 has been earned his season. The colt was coming off of a 3 1/2-length victory in a 7-furlong non-winners-of-two state-bred allowance race at The Downs at Albuquerque on August 24.
Attitude E Racer, the 8-5 favorite, ran second and was followed by Running Squall, Deity, Sapello Cantador, Irish Tito, Beau Wizer, and Golden Chain.
Attitude E Racer is a bay gelding by Desert God racing for Michael C. Stinson, and he was coming off of a third-place finish against open company in the 1 1/16-mile, $40,000 Ruidoso Thoroughbred Derby on September 3. All told, Attitude E Racer has banked $149,804 from nine starts, and his three wins include the March 27, $100,000 New Mexico Breeders' Derby (R) at Sunland Park.
A homebred gelding by Squall racing for William T. Stradley of Hobbs, New Mexico, Running Squall was five weeks removed from a third-place finish to Mi Domscat in the 6-furlong, $50,000 Don Juan De Onate Stakes (R) during the Lineage Day program at The Downs at Albuquerque. The gelding has won three of his 16 outs, including last year's $190,000 Rio Grande Senor Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs.
