Jockey Esgar Ramirez Rides Three Winners on Lineage Day Program

Esgar Ramirez rode the winners of three races during Saturday's Lineage Day racing program for New Mexico-breds at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Ramirez, who had five mounts on the 11-race card, won the 350-yard, $12,400 Lineage Quarter Horse Claming Stakes with Seacrest Out, the 400-yard, $50,000 Pelican Stakes (RG3) with By By Corona, and the 400-yard, $50,000 Hard Twist Stakes (RG3) with Leave N Legal.

Also, trainer Dwain Grissom and jockey J. Martin Bourdieu combined to win two races – the 6-furlong, $50,000 Don Juan de Onate Stakes (R) with Mi Domscat, and the 5 ½-furlong, $50,000 Casey Darnell Pony Express Stakes (R) with Bonndaddy's.

Both Mi Domscat and Bonndaddy's are out of the Southern Halo mare Mi Camila.

The Downs at Albuquerque reported attendance of 2,510 for Sunday's card, an increase of 48 percent over the last year's reported attendance of 1,692. Total handle on the Lineage races reached $222,617, which was 12 percent higher than last year's Lineage handle of $199,017.
