RSS Feeds Monday, July 26, 2010
Miss Dash Ta Dial, a black filly by the Make My Mark stallion Mark My Dial, broke her maiden in Sunday’s 400-yard, $20,000 Rainbow Juvenile Invitational Stakes at Ruidoso Downs.

Saddled by Wes Giles and ridden by Esgar Ramirez, Miss Dash Ta Dial stopped the timer in :19.623 on a sloppy and sealed track while defeating Tycoon Jess by a neck. The homebred filly earned $12,000 for her owner, Robert H. Williams of Vernal, Utah.

Miss Dash Ta Dial became the first stakes winner from 10 starters sired by Mark My Dial, 12-year-old stallion who raced from 2000-02 and won the 2000 New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) at Sunland Park and Zia Futurity (RG2) at Ruidoso Downs. Mark My Dial’s five crops have earned more than $257,000 and include Mark It Famous, a 3-year-old gelding who ran second in the April 3, $168,685 West Texas Derby (G3) and was a finalist in last year’s Texas Classic (G1) and West Texas (G1) futurities.

A full sister to Mark It Famous, Miss Dash Ta Dial is one of three winners from four starters foaled by her dam, the unraced 15-year-old Dash Ta Fame mare A Famous New Face. The filly’s second dam, the winning White Rammer (TB) mare New Face, produced DC Easy Face, a gelding who won the 1992 Sir Cash Dash Futurity at Laurel Brown Racetrack near Salt Lake City.

Miss Dash Ta Dial has won one of five starts and has earned $15,940. The filly ran fifth, three-quarters of a length behind winner Deepwater B, in the April 17 West Texas Juvenile Stakes at Sunland Park.

The Redd Zone, SM Chicksastreakin, Make Me Fly, and Ice Kool Kitty completed the order of finish.

Runner-up Tycoon Jess banked $4,400 for his owner, Johnny Trotter of Hereford, Texas. The homebred bay colt by Mr Jess Perry broke his maiden with a one-length victory in his career debut, a Ruidoso Futurity (G1) trial on May 28.

The Redd Zone is a sorrel colt by First Down Dash racing for Fredda Draper, Steve Burns, and Ray Willis. A winner of one of his four starts, The Redd Zone earned $2,000 to bring his bankroll to $8,280.
