My Homey Tops Copper Top Futurity (Colts and Geldings Division) Finalists
RSS Feeds Wednesday, March 30, 2011

My Homey broke his maiden with a six-length victory in the first of three Copper Top Futurity (R)--colts and geldings division trials at Sunland Park on Tuesday.

Ridden by J. Martin Bourdieu for owners Steve Prather, Bessie Prather, and Hermenegildo “Poppy” Aldavaz, My Homey went 4 ½ furlongs in :52.47 while scoring his first victory in two starts. Aldavaz saddled the homebred 2-year-old gelding by the Giant's Causeway stallion The Way Home.

Also, J. Kirk Robison's Koufax made his career debut with a half-length win in the third trial. A dark bay colt by Minister Eric trained by Henry Dominguez, Koufax was a $1,300 buy at last year's New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale at Ruidoso Downs.
