NM-Bred Colt Chick Town Makes Four Corners Futurity Final
RSS Feeds Saturday, June 04, 2011

Chick Town, a New Mexico-bred Chicks A Blazin colt racing for Jim and Michele Laird, posted the 10th-fastest qualifying time for this year's $40,000-added Four Corners Futurity in trials held at SunRay Park on Saturday.

Saddled by Wes Giles and ridden by Tony Guymon, Chick Town ran third, three-quarters of a length behind second-fastest qualifier Valient Prince in the third of five 350-yard trials. The colt was bred in Miguel L. Gallegos of Albuquerque, and he was coming off of a fourth-place finish in the April 10, 300-yard New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) for state-bred 2-year-olds at Sunland Park.

Chick Town's dam, Snappin On, is a 14-year-old winning daughter of champion Takin On The Cash.

Carrol A. Durbin's Midnight Wagon, an Oklahoma-bred colt by second-year sire PYC Paint Your Wagon, won the fourth trial by a neck in :17.376 and is the fastest qualifier. Midnight Wagon is one of two finalists from Giles' barn.
