NM-Breds Sacred Stone, KO Calyx RF Make Pfizer Challenge Final at SunRay

A pair of New Mexico-breds, Sacred Stone and KO Calyx RF, have qualified to the May 22 Pfizer SunRay Park Starter Allowance Challenge.

Sacred Stone and KO Calyx RF ran third and sixth, respectively, in the second of two trials at the Farmington, New Mexico, track on Sunday. A 5-year-old gelding by The Down Side racing for Jerry and Jeanette Rogers' Rogers Farm and trained by Gerald Richards, Sacred Stone finished one length behind winner and fastest qualifier Ocean Fun. Sacred Stone has won two of 16 races and has earned $57,279, and he was a finalist in the 2009 New Mexico Cup Derby (RG2) at Zia Park.

Also owned by Rogers Farms, KO Calyx RF is a homebred 5-year-old bay mare by KO Calyx who has banked $28,071 from two wins in 15 outs.

The winner of the 350-yard, $20,000-added Pfizer SunRay Park Starter Allowance Challenge will earn a berth in the $75,000 Pfizer Starter Allowance Challenge Championship at Los Alamitos on October 29. The compete list of qualifiers appears below.
