The New Mexico Horse Breeders’ Association will hold its annual Youth Day at the Races at The Downs at Albuquerque on Saturday, October 9.
The activity is limited to 25 people, aged 12 or older, and it includes the observation of morning workouts, touring the racing office and test barn, lunch in the Jockey Club, and a visit to the jockeys’ quarters and paddock to observe the duties of the clerk of scales, paddock judge, and horse identifier.
Participants will also be able to view the start of a Quarter Horse race from the starting gate and meet the stewards and The Downs at Albuquerque’s publicity and marketing departments. Also, a group photo will be taken in the winner’s circle.
Participants will meet at The Downs at Albuquerque’s stable gate entrance at Gate 8 off of Louisiana Blvd at 8:15 a.m. For more information and to register, contact the NMHBA at (505) 262-0224.
