P J’s Gold Returns in Totah Stakes
RSS Feeds Sunday, June 11, 2017
P J’s Gold, a finalist in this year’s Copper Top Futurity (R), is one of seven New Mexico-bred juveniles entered in Monday’s 4 1/2-furlong, $45,000 Totah Stakes (R) at SunRay Park.

A homebred son of the Mr. Greeley stallion Mr. Gold Mover racing for Paul W. Jenson, P J’s Gold has earned $7,548 from two outs, and he made his debut with a three-quarter length victory as the 9-5 favorite in a Copper Top Futurity trial at Sunland Park on March 25. The colt is the first starter produced by Shes A Looker R F, a winning 8-year-old daughter of the Silver Ghost stallion Silver Season.

P J’s Gold is the 5-2 morning-line favorite and will be ridden by Enrique Gomez from post 3.

Other contenders include Blazing Navarone, a bay colt by Song Of Navarone trained by Dominguez for owners Solitaire Stable and George E. Coleman. A half brother to the stakes-placed gelding Carmen’s Rocket, Blazing Navarone made his debut with a neck victory in a 4 1/2-furlong, $22,000 maiden-special-weight dash for New Mexico-breds at Sunland Park on April 16.

Blazing Navarone drew post 4 and will be ridden by David Lopez.

Thomas Ciaccio’s Gabby Who will be seeking his first career win from post 2. A chestnut son of The Way Home trained by Celio Trujillo Jr., the gelding is a half sister to Fitz Just Right, a Seattle Fitz (ARG) filly who won the $100,000 Darley OBS Filly Championship Stakes (R) in Florida in 2009 and ran second in that season’s $150,000 Bourbonette Oaks (G3) at Turfway Park.

Gabby Who will be ridden by Enrique Garcia.

The complete lineup, in post position order including jockey assignments and morning-line odds:
Personal Guarantee (Alfredo Juarez Jr.), 15-1
Gabby Who (Enrique Garcia), 6-1
P J’s Gold (Enrique Gomez), 5-2
Blazing Navarone (David Lopez), 3-1
Hollywood Henry (Ricardo Jaime), 8-1
Smooth Talkin Red (Ameth Gonzalez), 7-2
Jeremiah Who (Francisco Amperan), 9-2
