Rabbits Rainbow Gelding is Fastest Senor Futurity Qualifier
RSS Feeds Friday, September 7, 2012

Balderinas Surprise, a homebred gelding by Rabbits Rainbow racing for Rogers Farms, is the fastest qualifier to the September 22, $50,000-added New Mexico State Fair Senor Futurity (RG3) for state-bred 2-year-old colts and geldings at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Prepped by John Bassett and ridden by Saul Ramirez Jr., Balderinas Surprise won the second of four trials on Friday. The gelding went 400 yards in :19.867 to earn an 87 speed index and his second victory in five starts.

Balderina's Surprise's dam, the 13-year-old Celadon mare Miss Balderina, won the 2001 Zia Futurity Consolation at Ruidoso Downs.

Verona G. Vaughn's Saturday Nite Romeo and Paul Esquibel's A Special Pfind, the co-second fastest qualifiers, finished in a dead heat for second in the second trial.
