RSS Feeds Wednesday, May 11, 2016
RG Miracle, a homebred gelding by the Dean Miracle stallion Hearts Miracle racing for Shirley Grisham of Albuquerque, is the 3-1 morning-line choice for Friday’s 400-yard, $40,000 New Mexico Breeders’ Stakes (RG2) for state-bred 3-year-olds at SunRay Park.

Trained by Ken Grisham, RG Miracle will be facing New Mexico-breds again off of his second-place finish, a head behind winner Unfinished Biz, in the 400-yard, $30,000 Animas Stakes at SunRay on April 22. The gelding was coming off of a 2-year-old campaign during which he earned $180,606 from nine starts, and his four wins included the 350-yard New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity (RG3) at SunRay and 400-yard Downs at Albuquerque Futurity (R) at The Downs at Albuquerque.

RG Miracle drew post 2 and will be ridden by Jimmy Ray Coates. His nine opponents include a pair of graded stakes winners during the 2015-16 Sunland Park meet, Princess Jesse and Carson City Girl.

A homebred Jesse James Jr filly trained by Eric Mikkelson for owner Vance Mikkelson of Belen, New Mexico, Princess Jesse will be stretching out in distance off of her neck victory in the 350-yard, $85,000 Sunburst Stakes (RG3) on April 3. Princess Jesse will be ridden by Alejandro Medellin from post 7.

Carson City Girl races for David and Sandra Barrett. The sorrel daughter of Woodbridge has banked $140,977, and her three wins in eight starts includes a half-length victory at odds of 18-1 in the January 17, 400-yard Shue Fly Stakes (RG2).

Carson City Girl drew post 6 and will be ridden by Jaime Parga Leos.

The complete lineup for the New Mexico Breeders’ Stakes, in post position order including jockey assignments and morning-line odds -- Sweet Splenda (J. Martin Bourdieu), 12-1; RG Miracle (Jimmy Ray Coates), 3-1; Super Star Smith (Felipe Garcia-Luna), 8-1; Frank N Jesse (Bonifacio Perez), 5-1; A Blazin Flash (Jose Luis Enriquez), 8-1; Carson City Girl (Jaime Parga Leos), 12-1; Princess Jesse (Alejandro Medellin), 4-1; Major Bites (Alonso Rivera), 10-1; Miss Ravens Wood (Jose Ruiz), 8-1; and Jesses Leader (Adan Fuentes), 10-1.
