The catalog for this year’s Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, which takes place September 2-4 at the Ruidoso Horse Sale Pavilion in Ruidoso Downs, contains 27 registered New Mexico-breds.

Here is a closer look to the New Mexico-breds consigned to the sale:

Hip No. 4: Daddys Blushing (c, Big Daddy Cartel-Sandy June Bug by Blushing Bug); consigned by MJ Farms, agent. Half brother to graded stakes winner Junior June Bug and stakes winner Hedge Fund.

Hip No. 9: Ace Crystal Cartel (f, Big Daddy Cartel-Ace Crystal Charm by Shazoom); consigned by MJ Farms, agent. Out of Grade 2-winning dam, half sister to multiple graded stakes winner Dashin Ace and stakes winner Wood Be Charming.

A total of 131 New Mexico-bred Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses has been entered in Sunday’s New Mexico Cup races at Zia Park. Purses for the 12 races -- eight for Thoroughbreds and four for Quarter Horses -- will exceed $2 million, once again making New Mexico Cup day the richest state- or province-bred day of racing in North America.
