Sandia Sonata, Roll Bloomers Roll Make Dessie and Fern Sawyer Futurity Field
RSS Feeds Saturday, September 10, 2011

Sandia Sonata, a bay daughter of Sandia Slew racing for Dan Delaney of Las Cruces, was a prompt 11-10 favorite in the second of two Dessie and Fern Sawyer Futurity (R) trials at The Downs at Albuquerque on Saturday.

Saddled by Fred Danley and ridden by Alfredo Juarez Jr., Sandia Sonata defeated Roll Bloomers Roll by two lengths for her third win in five starts. The $1,400 buy at last year's New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale at Ruidoso Downs has earned $44,498, and her stakes resume includes a second-place finish to Our Flying Angel in the July 31, $156,000 Rio Grande Senorita Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs.

Roll Bloomers Roll is a homebred daughter of Roll Hennessy Roll owned by Rita Danley and trained by Fred Danley. The filly has banked $85,308 from five outs, with her lone victory coming in the fillies division of the 4 1/2-furlong Copper Top Futurity (R) at Sunland Park on April 16.

The $40,000-added Dessie and Fern Sawyer Futurity final will be contested on September 25, closing day of the New Mexico State Fair portion of the Albuquerque meet. The complete list of qualifying fillies appears in alphabetical order below:
