Sippin, a homebred Swissle Stick filly racing for R.D. Hubbard, made her sophomore debut with a wire-to-wire victory in Sunday’s 1-mile, $85,000 Enchantress Stakes (R) for New Mexico-bred fillies at Sunland Park.

Ridden by Tracy Hebert for trainer Todd Fincher, Sippin established fractions of :24.54, :49.43, and 1:15.62 before she reached the wire in 1:40.83. The filly’s winning margin was 2 1/2 lengths from Pink Cadillac, and she returned a $2.40 win mutuel as the 1-5 favorite in the field of six.

Sippin has won all seven of her outs, and the $51,000 winner’s share of the Enchantress purse pushed her bankroll to $319,047. The filly is the first Thoroughbred stakes winner sired by Swissle Stick, a 15-year-old son of the Eastern Echo stallion Swiss Yodeler.

Racing in nine states from 2004-09, Swissle Stick won seven races and earned $129,964, and his resume included a third-place finish in the 4 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Charles Town Dash Invitational Handicap in West Virginia. The stallion, a half brother to three California stakes winners, including two-time Grade 1 winner Brother Derek, has sired the earners of more than $435,000 from 16 Thoroughbred starters.

Swissle Stick’s Quarter Horse starters include Swiss Chris, a gelding who is multiple stakes placed at the 870-yard distance. The stallion is owned by and stood the 2016 season for a $1,000 fee at Mac and Janis Murray’s MJ Farms at Veguita, New Mexico.

Sippin is also one of four winners from six starters produced by Samba Queen, a 13-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of the Storm Cat stallion Giant’s Causeway. The filly is a half sister to Mancation, the winner of the 1 1/16-mile New Mexico Breeders’ Derby (R) at Sunland Park in 2014.

Sippin’s second dam, the Baronius (BRZ) mare Misty Moon (BRZ), foaled three stakes winners, all of whom are half sisters to Samba Queen, including Virginie, a multiple graded stakes winner who won the ’99 Beverly Hills Handicap (G1) on the turf at Hollywood Park.

Sippin traces back to her fourth dam, the winning Cohoes mare Fashion Plate. A 1965 foal, Fashion Plate was a half sister to multiple stakes winner Swiss Cheese.

Raced exclusively in New Mexico, Sippin has won five stakes, including the 5 1/2-furlong, $191,000 Rio Grande Senorita Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs on September 4, and the 6-furlong, $140,000 New Mexico Cup Lassie Stakes (R) at Zia Park on October 30.

Rolling Star finished third, six lengths behind Sippin. She’s Charlita, Que Pasa, and Danas Love completed the order of finish.

Pink Cadillac is a homebred filly by Diabolical raced by J. Kirk and Judy Robison of El Paso, Texas. Pink Cadillac has banked $55,200 from eight outs, and her record includes a third-place finish, seven lengths behind Sippin, in the New Mexico Cup Lassie Stakes.

A homebred bay daughter of Roll Hennessy Roll, Rolling Star is owned by Charles W. Hunter. The filly has earned $21,002 from eight races, and she was a finalist in the Rio Grande Senorita Futurity.
