RSS Feeds Saturday, September 08, 2012
The stakes-placed geldings Key To The Venture and Storms Surprise are among the 12 New Mexico-bred 2-year-old colts and geldings who will race in the September 23, $50,000-added George Maloof Futurity (R) at The Downs at Albuquerque.

A bay gelding by the Storm Cat stallion Storm Of Goshen racing for Quinn and Kim Jones and trained by Guadalupe Munoz Jr., Key To The Venture ran second, two lengths behind winner Indy's Rocket, in the second of two trials on Saturday. Key To The Venture has won one of seven races and has earned $42,448, and his race record includes a second-place finish to Kiss My Hennessy in the colts and geldings division of the April 14, $120,989 Copper Top Futurity (R) at Sunland Park.

Storms Surprise ran sixth in the second heat. The homebred Attila's Storm gelding has banked $16,926 from three starts for his owners, Margaret O. DuPont and Margaret V. Bloss, and his stakes resume includes a third-place run in the 4 1/2-furlong, $75,000 Totah Stakes (R) at SunRay Park on June 19.
