Stakes Winner I Play Dirty Makes Mountain Top Futurity Final
RSS Feeds Friday, June 10, 2011

Joe Dee Brooks' I Play Dirty won the first of three Mountain Top Thoroughbred Futurity (R) trials at Ruidoso Downs on Friday, and the Roll Hennessy Roll gelding is one of 10 qualifiers to the $136,000 final on June 26.

Trained by Todd Fincher and ridden by Juan Ochoa, I Play Dirty defeated Band Of Glory by 4 ½ lengths while covering 5 furlongs in 1:01.11. The gelding was making his first start since April 16, when he scored a neck victory in the colts and geldings division of the 4 1/2-furlong, $75,000-added Copper Top Futurity (R) at Sunland Park.

I Play Dirty was bred by Brad King and Lauren Fincher. Brooks, a resident of Levelland, Texas, acquired the gelding for $1,200 at last year's New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale at Ruidoso Downs.

All told, I Play Dirty has earned $61,294 from two wins in three outs.

The Mountain Top Futurity is restricted to New Mexico-bred 2-year-olds. The complete list of qualifiers appears in alphabetical order below.

(Note: There will be a shake between No More Days, Roll Devil Roll, and Shes A Looker R F to determine the 10th and final qualifier.)
