Stakes Winners Dandy Don Who, Roll Out The Band Make Rio Grande Senor Futurity Final

Stakes winners Dandy Don Who and Roll Out The Band are among the 10 New Mexico-bred colts and geldings who will race in the 5 1/2-furlong, $191,150 Rio Grande Senor Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs on July 28.

Dandy Don Who and Roll Out The Band ran second in the first and third trials, respectively. A homebred gelding by Quinton's Gold racing for Sam E. Stevens and Sammy Stevens of Lamesa, Texas, and trained by Todd Fincher, Dandy Don Who has earned $68,283 from four starts, and his two wins include a three-quarter length victory in the colts and geldings division of the 4 1/2-furlong, $95,126 Copper Top Futurity (R) at Sunland Park on April 13.

Roll Out The Band has won two of five outs and has banked $53,183 for owners Brad King and Dale Taylor, who also bred the chestnut son of Roll Hennessy Roll. The gelding's race record includes a wire-to-wire, 5 1/4-length win in the 4 1/2-furlong, $65,000 Totah Stakes (R) at SunRay Park on June 18.

Trainer Joel Marr tallied his 1,000th career Thoroughbred win in Tuesday’s 11th and final race at Zia Park. Marr’s milestone victory came with Sweet Diamond, a 3-year-old Attila’s Storm filly owned by Rodney Brooks and Donnie Reid and ridden by Ken Tohill, in a 1-mile race for New Mexico-bred maiden $6,500 claimers.
