Storm The Beach, One Key Qualify to New Mexico State Fair Thoroughbred Futurity
RSS Feeds Sunday, September 10, 2017

Storm The Beach and One Key are among the 10 state-bred 2-year-olds who qualified to the September 24, $100,000-added New Mexico State Fair Thoroughbred Futurity (R).

A gelded son of Attila’s Storm trained by Fred Danley for owner J & SM Inc. of Fort Stockton, Texas, Storm The Beach finished third in the first of two 6-furlong trials on Saturday. Storm The Beach was coming off of a neck victory against open company in the 6-furlong, $50,000 Manzano Stakes at Albuquerque Downs on August 12.

Storm The Beach was bred by Tom and Leslie Goncharoff of Tularosa, New Mexico, and he was a $28,000 yearling buy at last year’s New Mexico-Bred Sale. The gelding has won four of six outs and has banked $72,870.

Cleber J. Massey’s One Key, the runner-up in the Manzano Stakes, ran second in the first trial and also made the list of qualifiers, which consists of the first five finishers in each heat. Joel Marr trains the homebred son of Diabolical.
