A program-record 11 races will be featured on Sunday’s $380,000 Lineage program for New Mexico-bred Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses at The Downs at Albuquerque.
Post time for the first race will be 1:30 p.m. (MDT).
Two winners from the August 1 Zia Festival card at Ruidoso Downs have entered Lineage races – Fullofenergy and Diamonds N Bling. A homebred 7-year-old Desert God gelding racing for Joe Allen and Michael Stinson, Fullofenergy drew post 6 and is the 8-5 morning-line favorite for Sunday’s 1 1/16-mile, $40,000 Lineage Stakes (R). Fullofenergy is coming off of his fourth consecutive victory in the 7 ½-furlong, $50,000 Land of Enchantment Handicap (R) at Ruidoso.
Diamonds N Bling won the August 1, 6-furlong Lincoln Handicap (R) for her owner, Maria G. Gonzalez of Edgewood, New Mexico. The 5-year-old daughter of the late Chimes Band is entered in Sunday’s 6-furlong Carlos Salazar Stakes (R) for fillies and mares.

Race 1 – Lineage Quarter Horse Claiming Stakes
3-year-olds & older; Purse, $10,000

Got It Going, a homebred 4-year-old Jacksboro mare and a $10,000 claiming winner at Sunland Park in February, drew post 7 in the field of seven. Racing for Rita Danley of Anthony, New Mexico, Got It Going has earned $18,508 from two victories in nine outs.

Joe B. Baca’s Retsina Spring is the 2-1 morning-line favorite. The 8-year-old Retsina Run gelding has banked $154,841 from 41 races, and his eight wins include last year’s 7-furlong E.T. Springer Stakes (R) during the New Mexico State Fair portion of The Downs at Albuquerque meet.

Holy Bucket LLC’s Woody Dungarees puts her two-race win streak on the line in this race. The homebred chestnut daughter of Woodbridge is coming off of a 1 ½-length victory in the 400-yard, $75,000 Firecracker Stakes (R) for state-bred sophomore fillies at SunRay Park.

The bay 6-year-old gelding by champion Dean Miracle is coming off of a second-place finish to PB And Crackers in the August 1, $50,000 Zia Handicap (RG2) at Ruidoso Downs.

Gonzalez of Edgewood, New Mexico, and he ran third, 1 ¾ lengths behind winner BRT Opulence, in the August 1 Zia 870 Championship (R) at Ruidoso Downs.

Lester’s Echo, a chestnut colt by The Trader’s Echo who most recently ran third to Train Rider Blues in the August 1 Road Runner Handicap at Ruidoso Downs, drew the rail post. Owned by Diana Bringhurst and Jeff & Chris Meyers, the lightly raced colt has won two of four races, including a 4 ½-furlong allowance sprint at SunRay Park on June 17.
