Sunland Park Benefit Fundraiser Set for February 16

February 13, 2010 - Chaplain Mark Green and members of the Homestretch Church board of directors are currently soliciting donations for a benefit dinner to be held at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino on Tuesday, February 16.

The dinner will benefit some of Sunland Park’s horsemen and jockeys who have recently suffered injuries or illness, including Carlos Rivas, Robert Richie, Noe Garcia, Vicky Warhol, Vicente Persona, Jorge Espitia, and Kelly Edge.

Chaplain Green and the church board are looking for silent auction items, such as hotel, restaurant, and retail gift cards of certificates; racetrack memorabilia; stud fees; ad space, or anything else that can be used to raise funds.

To donate cash, make checks payable to Homestretch Church at PO Box 1534, Santa Teresa, NM 88008. To donate items, send them to Homestretch Church, Sunland Park Racetrack, 1200 Futurity Dr., Sunland Park, NM 88063. The benefit dinner will take place at Sunland Park’s Signature Showroom, directly below Ventanas Buffet Restaurant. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with dinner served at 7 p.m. Dancing, featuring music by the Greg Crop Band, will follow. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children up to age 10.
