RSS Feeds Saturday, December 31, 2011
Sent to post as the 7-5 choice, That's Who scored a three-quarter length victory in Saturday's $110,000 Red Hedeman Mile Stakes (R) for New Mexico-bred 2-year-olds at Sunland Park.

That's Who covered his eight-furlong trip in 1:37.11 under jockey Ry Eikleberry while earning his fourth win in seven starts and second stakes score. Joel Marr prepped the homebred Quinton's Gold gelding for owners Sam E. and Latane Stevens of Lamesa, Texas.

That's Who is one of three stakes winners sired by Quinton's Gold, a stallion by Carson City who won two stakes at Turf Paradise in 2002, including the 6-furlong, $100,000 Phoenix Gold Cup Handicap. Now 14, Quinton's Gold has sired the earners of more than $1.9 million from 27 starters, including seven-time stakes winner Lefty Who, the winner of the '08 Red Hedeman Mile. He stands for a $3,500 fee at Steve Prather's Doubletree Farm at Hobbs, New Mexico.

That's Who is also one of two winners from three starters produced by Rama Lassie, a 10-year-old daughter of the Clever Trick stallion Hadif who ran third in the 2003 Princess Handicap at Sunland Park and the '04 Aspen Cup Handicap and Ruidoso Oaks at Ruidoso Downs.

That's Who was coming off of a third-place finish in the December 4, $129,860 New Mexico Eddy County Stakes (R) for state-bred 2-year-olds at Zia Park. The $66,000 winner's share of the Red Hedeman Mile purse pushed his bankroll to $220,770.

That's Who's stakes resume includes a 1 1/2-length victory in the 6-furlong, $151,600 New Mexico Cup Juvenile Colts & Geldings Stakes (R) at Zia Park on October 30, and a runner-up finish to Desert Road in the 5 1/2-furlong, $149,250 Rio Grande Senor Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs on July 31.

Tarahumar Flags ran second, 11 ½ lengths in front of third-place E Bar Way. Zenon's Star, Vote Often, Damayorofclowntown, Victoria's Case, Six Million, Honshu City, and Mr. Wizard completed the order of finish.

Mr. Wizard crossed the wire fifth but was disqualified and placed 10th for lugging in through the stretch.

Tarahumar Flags is a gelding by the Seattle Slew stallion Avenue Of Flags racing for Kings Ransom LLC. Tarahumar Flags has won two of six races, including a 5 1/2-furlong non-winners-of-two $12,500 claiming sprint for New Mexico-breds on December 17, and he has earned $53,458.

A homebred chestnut gelding by the Giant's Causeway stallion The Way Home, E Bar Way was coming off of a half-length victory at odds of 10-1 in the New Mexico Eddy County Stakes. E Bar Way has won two of six races and has banked $110,856 for his owner, Donnell Echols.
