Trainer Fred Danley Qualifies Six Dessie & Fern Sawyer Futurity Finalists
RSS Feeds Sunday, September 12, 2010

Fred Danley will be a busy man on September 26, as the veteran trainer has qualified six New Mexico-bred 2-year-old fillies and mares to that day’s $40,000-added Dessie & Fern Sawyer Futurity (R) at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Danley’s finalists include four homebreds he trains for W.T. Stradley and Tom Williams – Miss Focus, Missall, Squallena, and Squall Wilbud. A bay daughter of Squall, Squall Wilbud is the lone stakes winner in the field of 12, as the filly won the fillies division of the 4 ½-furlong, $133,436 Copper Top Futurity (R) at Sunland Park on April 17.

Squallena is a bay filly by Squall who has earned $36,516 from seven races, and she ran second, one length behind Tin Can Kitty, in the June 19, $75,000 C.O. “Ken” Kendrick Memorial Stakes (R) at SunRay Park.

Other prominent qualifiers include David Wolochuk’s Shamrock Girl, a daughter of the Holy Bull stallion King Bull who has won three of five races and ran third in the Kendrick and Copper Top.
