RSS Feeds Tuesday, May 21, 2013
Stakes winner Tyger Teras is the 5-2 morning-line favorite for Saturday's 6 1/2-furlong, $65,000 Aztec Oaks (R) for New Mexico-bred 3-year-old fillies.

A gray or roan daughter of the Unbridled Song stalion To Teras owned by Jim Nation and trained by Greg Green, Tyger Teras won three of her four starts during the 2012-13 Sunland Park meet, including the January 12, $85,000 La Senora Stakes (R). All told, the filly has won four of nine starts and has earned $110,348 while racing exclusively in New Mexico, and her stakes record includes a second-place finish to multiple stakes winner Back Seat Roll in the 1 1/16-mile, $85,000 New Mexico Breeders' Oaks (R) at Sunland on March 24.

Alfredo Juarez Jr. will ride Tyger Teras from the rail post on Saturday.

Tyger Teras is one of nine fillies entered in the Aztec Oaks. Other contenders include Jim Volk's Chapaquiddick Hush and J. Kirk and Judy Robison's Lakehouse Fun.

Chapaquiddick Hush is a bay filly by the Nureyev stallion Istintaj who has won her last two starts for trainer Eric Mikkelson. Chapaquiddick Hush has banked $56,826 from eight races, and her three wins include a neck victory at odds of 10-1 in a 4 1/2-furlong, non-winners-of-three allowance sprint for state-bred distaffers at SunRay on May 10.

Racing from the barn of trainer Henry Dominguez, Lakehouse Fun ran second, one length behind Tyger Teras, in a 5 1/2-furlong allowance-optional claiming ($25,000) race at Sunland Park on April 12, her most recent out. The homebred stakes-placed daughter of Roll Hennessy Roll has won three of nine starts and has banked $66,201.

The Aztec Oaks will be the eighth race on SunRay Park's nine-race program. Approximate post time is scheduled for 3:43 p.m. (MDT).

The complete lineup, in post position order including jockey assignments and morning-line odds – Tyger Teras (Alfredo Juarez Jr.), 5-2; Dance With Trixie (Miguel Perez), 10-1; Silver Streakn Gal (Enrique Garcia), 20-1; Chapaquiddick Hush (Macario Rodriguez), 4-1; La Luz (Isaias Cardenas), 6-1; Grand Flame (Ricardo Jaime), 15-1; Lakehouse Fun (Enrique Gomez), 4-1; Swedish Goddess (Aldo Arboleda), 10-1; and Appleina (Miguel Hernandez), 8-1.
